José has over 20 years of overall professional experience in the energy, financial and agribusiness sectors. He currently collaborates with the Country Engagement and Partnerships Division at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and supports countries in Latin America and the Caribbean on coordinating the Agency’s assistance related National Determined Contributions, Renewable Energy roadmaps, Renewable Readiness Assessment and Investment Forums.
He previously served at the Mexican Ministry of Energy implementing power sector reforms and promoting the financing of renewable energy projects. Jose acted as a member of the Board of Directors at a CFE Subsidiary, at Development Banks Credit Committees and as a financial advisor for the Mexican Petroleum Fund.
In the Financial Sector he worked as a Money Market Manager for a Brokerage Firm and as a Deputy Director for Guarantees, Mortgage Insurance and Operations at SHF, Mortgage Development Bank. He also held the Financial Manager position for Cargill Grain and Oilseeds Crush division in Mexico.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master’s in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Managemen
